If you suffer from heart or respiratory problems, allergies or asthma, make sure that you consult your doctor before flying and fill in the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) issued no more than seven days before the date of travel.
However, to overcome any possible discomfort due to changes in altitude, especially during take-off and landing, we suggest you: take deep breaths, drink plenty of water, swallow often as you chew a chewing-gum or suck on a sweet.
To minimize the effects of jet lag, make sure you get a good night’s sleep before you leave and, if your stay is less than two nights, keep your “biological clock” set on home time (i.e. keep to your regular eating and sleeping habits). In the event of a longer trip, try to adapt to local time as soon as possible and follow a regular and healthy lifestyle. Remember that getting over jet lag is usually quicker when travelling from east to west.
To reduce the risks of the DVT syndrome, known as “Deep Venous Thrombosis”, here are some things you should do before and during the flight:
This pathology can affect people who sit in the same position for lengthy periods of time. There are some factors which may lead to the risk of DVT, such as: genetic predisposition, prolonged hormonal treatment without medical supervision, persistent or sudden alteration of the blood coagulation rate (when left untreated), recent surgical operations especially those involving veins and arteries, previous attacks of DVT not under treatment, recent serious traumas to the lower limbs.
