G8, 2009: Schengen area countries border controls reinstated
The Italian government has temporarily suspended the Schengen Treaty validity, due to the coming G8 meeting, as of June 28. Borders controls are therefore enacted to guarantee citizens’, delegations’ and world leaders’ security at the foreseen July meeting in l’Aquila.
All passengers arriving/departing from/to Schengen destinations must carry identity document valid for travel abroad and must go to the airport in time, to avoid the risk of possible delays due to the re-introduction of border document control.
Alitalia will intensify assistance at airports for the entire period in order to help its passengers, especially for transit passenger’s needs.
