Award ticket

MilleMiglia award ticket With the miles earned with Alitalia and with the airline and commercial partners (if you haven't earned enough miles, also with a small mileage purchase), you can request a Standard or Plus ticket.

Standard award ticket
Use your miles to request an award ticket for flights operated by Alitalia or by airline companies that are partners in the program; code-sharing flights operated by airline companies that are not partners in the program are excluded.

Plus award ticket
There is a new opportunity if you want to travel with award tickets during the high season: the Plus award ticket.
By spending double the number of miles required for the Standard ticket, the Plus ticket offers:
- a wider choice of seats
- free excess baggage of up to 10 kg (in addition to the extra allowance provided by the Ulisse, Freccia Alata and Freccia Alata Plus Clubs)
- the possibility of changing itinerary and/or beneficiary without extra payment

How to request your award ticket
You can request your award tickets online, or contact your nearest Alitalia Office, specifying that the booking request refers to a MilleMiglia award ticket. By communicating your MilleMiglia code, you can request:
  • E-ticket: this service is available for most destinations served by Alitalia. When booking, you will need to give the number of your ID document (or that of a beneficiary) and your credit card number (for billing the airport taxes). On arrival at the airport, go straight to check-in to pick up your boarding pass and the receipt for the ticket.
  • Paper ticket: the ticket can be also picked up by a third adult person with identification, a written and signed delegation statement from the member account holder and a photocopy of the ID document and MilleMiglia membership card.
You can also get your award ticket via the Ticket-by-mail service: you can arrange the most convenient delivery with the operator, and at the same time pay the small fee for the service as well as airport taxes with your credit card. Remember to make the request at least 7 working days before departure of the flight, and that at present this service is available in Italy and in the following European cities: Copenhagen, Lyon, London, Marseille, Nice and Paris.
General rules and penalties for award ticket changes
- for every award ticket, only two transits are allowed. Voluntary stops (stopovers) are not allowed
- award tickets are valid for 12 months from the date of issue
- bookings will be automatically cancelled if the award ticket is not issued within a maximum of 30 days from the date the booking was made
- Starting 1 January 2008, to changes to award tickets where penalties will apply, the amount will be based on the new fees (5,000 miles or 55 euros).
See details on penalties:
  • it's applicable in case of itinerary changes or of changes to the beneficiary
  • it's not applicable in case of date or time change, and in case of changes to the beneficiary that require a switch* from a Plus ticket to a Standard or, viceversa, from Standard to a Plus ticket.
For all tickets issued before 31/12/2007 the applicable penalty is the one related to the 2003-2007 Program.

* In case the change to the type of ticket (from Plus to Standard) creates a miles residue, these miles will be lost and will not be refunded to the member, under any circumstances.
