MILLEMIGLIA PROGRAM
Regulations
Regulations
1 - Definitions
1.1 The "Alitalia MilleMiglia Program" (henceforth known as MilleMiglia Program) is Alitalia’s award plan which lasts from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2007.
1.2 The MilleMiglia Program is subject to these rules and regulations.
1.3 Alitalia reserves the right to modify, even partially and at any time, the rules for participating in the MilleMiglia Program, as long as the rights already acquired by participants are safeguarded, and the modifications introduced do not make the terms more difficult for participants during the Program’s validity period.
1.4 For further information about the MilleMiglia Program regulations shown below, please contact the nearest Alitalia office.
2 - Conditions for membership
2.1 Any person who has reached the age of 14 years, who is not resident in Italy and who, at the time of enrolment, has indicated an address outside Italy where he/she can receive the MilleMiglia correspondence. Participation in the program for those under the age of 18 depends on the consent of a parent or guardian and is his/her responsibility.
2.2 MilleMiglia Program membership is not open to employees of other airline companies or companies operating in the sector.
2.3 To join the MilleMiglia Program, it is necessary to go to an Alitalia office in the country of residence or become a Member via the website at: www.alitalia.com. After enrolling, which is free of charge, the MilleMiglia Member will be given a personal code which must be quoted every time a flight is booked, and during check-in at the airport, in order to earn points which are expressed in miles. The Member will subsequently receive, via email or the address supplied on enrolment, a secret code (PIN=Personal Identification Number) which will allow the Member to access all the dedicated online services on the Alitalia website. The Member is entirely responsible for keeping the PIN code secret. Following the first operation, he/she will receive the MilleMiglia card showing his/her personal code number under separate cover.
2.4 The membership card is personal and can only be used by the holder.
2.5 Participants in the previous edition of the MilleMiglia Program are automatically enrolled in the new program, except when they request not to join.
2.6 It is not possible to enrol more than one person on the same account/personal code. Each enrolment is personal and contains the personal data supplied by the Member who is obliged to inform, in writing, an Alitalia office in his/her country of residence, or via the Internet, of any change in such data.
2.7 Each Member has the right to only one account/code. In the case of more than one account/code having the same Member’s name, Alitalia will transfer the accumulated miles, after informing the Member, to a single account/code, closing the others. Should there be different accounts under the same name, containing miles relating to the same flight/service, these will be credited only once, on the one valid account.
2.8 The Member guarantees that all information supplied is accurate and that he/she is the person solely responsible for that information.
2.9 The data supplied by members when enrolling in the MilleMiglia Program become part of an archive used to manage Club MilleMiglia in the best possible manner. This archive is managed by Alitalia, according to the regulations for the treatment of personal details, which guarantees that it is used exclusively for the purpose indicated above.
2.10 Participation in the MilleMiglia Program is subject to the continuance of, and adherence to, all the conditions/clauses indicated in the present regulations. Alitalia reserves the right to cancel the enrolment of a Member due to violation of any one of these regulations, and also if these conditions/clauses are not respected.
2.11 In case of loss, theft or damage to the membership card, the Member is obliged to immediately inform Alitalia who will simply re-issue the card or close the corresponding account and open a new account to which all the earned miles will be transferred. In this case, the Member will receive a new code number, a new MilleMiglia membership card and a new PIN. In any case, Alitalia cannot be held responsible for any fraudulent use of a lost or stolen card prior to the above-mentioned notification. A Member who forgets the PIN code may contact an Alitalia office in his/her country of residence who will send a new PIN to the Member’s address, or if the Member has given his/her email address, he/she can retrieve their PIN by going to the recognition section on the website. In this case, once the number has been retrieved, it is advisable to modify it by using the personal-details update section.
2.12 Alitalia reserves the right to change the MilleMiglia Program by including partners other than those initially indicated, as long as this increases the possibility of earning miles for all participants in the Program.
2.13 Alitalia is a partner of the alliance known as SkyTeam, whose current membership also includes: AeroMexico, Air France, Continental, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Korean Air and Northwest.
3 - Miles
3.1 Miles are the basic unit of calculation used by Alitalia for the MilleMiglia Program. The personal code of each Member corresponds to an account which is credited with the miles earned on Alitalia flights, those with one of the partner companies, the use of services or purchase of products from partner companies, and whatever else is indicated in the program.
3.2 The number of miles credited is based on the distance (IATA TPM Ticketed Point Mileage) or on the minimum number of miles foreseen by the MilleMiglia Program between the point of departure and that of the destination indicated on the ticket, and on the basis of the class of booking (mileage is doubled for flight legs flown in First and/or Magnifica Class). For connecting flights, the miles relating to the single flight legs of the journey are credited.
3.3 To obtain automatic credit on the miles for any flight, participants must communicate their identification code when booking the flight and show their membership card during check-in at the airport. In some non automated airports, automatic crediting of miles may not be possible. If the miles are not registered automatically, the Member can have these miles credited by sending, via fax or by mail, a legible photocopy of the boarding pass and the ticket within four months from the date of the flight referred to. When services/products of a partner company are used, the Member must communicate his/her code when booking the service or purchasing the product. When a service offered by one of the partner companies is not credited, it is necessary to contact the Customer Services of the partner company directly.
3.4 Documentation relative to flights made or services/products used prior to the date of enrolment in the Program is not acceptable.
3.5 Miles earned by different members cannot be credited to the same account, nor can point compensation be requested by different members.
3.6 In the event of a MilleMiglia Program Member being enrolled in the loyalty program of another partner airline, the miles earned on any flight may not be credited to more than one program. Alitalia reserves the right, following checks, to cancel the improperly earned miles.
3.7 Tickets bought and not used do not earn miles.
3.8 Members can earn miles only for the flights taken by themselves. Regarding services purchased from partners in the program, the regulations supplied by these companies are valid. Miles are not earned by tickets purchased by a Member but used by another person. Flights made with award tickets do not count in earning miles.
3.9 Some air and service fares of partner airlines exclude the right to earn miles.
3.10 There are no miles credited for flights made with free tickets or with tickets that have a discount greater than 40% of the published fare. These discounts are indicated on the ticket by the initials: AD, CG, DG, DM, EG, GE, ID, IG, RG and UD. Such conditions are to be considered absolute and therefore Alitalia will cancel any points acquired in violation of the same.
3.11 Flights re-booked with other airline companies or tickets issued by Alitalia, but flown onother companies that are not partners in the program, do not earn miles. Nonetheless, in the case of re-booking by Alitalia due to cancellation of a flight close to departure (within 36 hours), the Member can request crediting of the relative miles by sending legible copies of the ticket and the boarding pass to Customer Services, within four months of the date of the flight.
3.12 Charter flights do not earn miles (with the exception of specific agreements with charter airline companies when these are partners in the program).
3.13 Members earn miles on Alitalia flights and on those of airline companies who are partners in the program. However no miles are earned by code-sharing flights operated in collaboration with airline companies that are not partners in the MilleMiglia Program.
3.14 Members who fly with Alitalia or with one of the airline companies that are part of the SkyTeam Alliance, also earn miles for flights operated in code-sharing with third-party carriers (even when they are not partners in the MilleMiglia Program), as long as, in the carrier box of the ticket, which indicates the carrier operating the flight, there is one of the following initials: AF, AM, AZ, CO, DL, KE, KL, NW or OK.
3.15 The Alitalia miles table, and the miles tables for the partner airline companies in the guide, indicate the miles earned with Alitalia and with the partner airline companies. For more details concerning flights that earn miles, members should contact their nearest Alitalia office. The above-mentioned flights can be changed or cancelled at any moment without previously notifying the Member. All the miles tables are subject to variations and in this case the updated and communicated versions are valid.
3.16 Alitalia reserves the right to recognize supplementary miles during specific promotional campaigns on the basis of the conditions provided by the same.
3.17 The services supplied and products offered by partner companies that earn miles are indicated in the pages of the guide devoted to miles earned with commercial partners.
3.18 The MilleMiglia Club partners are entirely responsible for the conditions for earning miles relative to the use of their services or the purchase of their products. A Member who wishes to use the services/products provided by partners is obliged to verify the conditions.
3.19 Alitalia declines any responsibility regarding the services/products offered by its partners. Any claims that might arise must be addressed directly to the partners concerned.
3.20 Miles earned cannot be negotiated or converted into money.
3.21 MilleMiglia members can choose to donate their miles (minimum 1,500 miles) to the humanitarian associations or charities recognized by the programme. The miles donated are not refundable and cannot in any way be credited to the Member’s account, nor re-used by the same.
3.22 Miles earned are shown on the statement the Member receives periodically at the address communicated to Alitalia. The statement can also be consulted on the Internet. Alitalia is not responsible for delays due to postal mishandling. The Member is responsible for communicating any change in his/her address.
3.23 In the case of upgrading to a higher class, without charge, by Alitalia or by one of the partner airline companies, the Member will be credited with miles according to the service class indicated on the ticket and not on the class actually used.
3.24 Alitalia can cancel any miles credited erroneously, and will inform the Member of such cancellation.
4 – Awards
4.1 Members can request award tickets for flights by Alitalia or by airline companies that are partners in the program; code-sharing flights operated by airline companies that are not partners in the program are excluded.
4.2 Destinations for which it is possible to request award tickets are indicated on the pages of the guide devoted to miles to be redeemed with Alitalia and with partner airline companies, showing the mileage necessary for each destination and for each service class. The award tables are divided into geographic areas. Each area contains all the destinations requiring the same number of miles.
4.3 An award ticket can be used by the Member requesting it or by another person indicated by the Member.
4.4 When members have earned the requisite number of miles, they can book a reward ticket for a flight by telephoning Customer Services and specifying that the booking being requested is for a reward ticket. It will not be possible to book MilleMiglia reward tickets at other Alitalia points or at Travel Agents.
4.5 Bookings will be automatically cancelled if the award ticket is not issued within a maximum of 30 days from the date the booking was made.
4.6 Airport taxes relating to the award ticket are always to be paid by the Member.
4.7. Award tickets can be requested directly at the local Alitalia offices.
4.8 The Member/beneficiary, when picking up the ticket, must sign a waiver and provide for payment of the airport taxes. The ticket can be picked up by a third person (who is an adult) with identification, a written and signed delegation statement from the Member account holder and a photocopy of the ID document and MilleMiglia membership card.
4.9 The number of seats on board reserved for reward ticket holders are limited. More seats are reserved for Ulisse and Freccia Alata Club members (see article 5.1).
4.10 For every award ticket, only two transits are allowed. Voluntary stops (stopovers) are not allowed. For itineraries which involve using more than one SkyTeam partner, the Member must consult the SkyTeam Awards table, which is governed by the norms printed at the foot of the table.
4.11 Award tickets cannot be issued for one-way flights.
4.12 Flights relating to an award ticket with airline partners who are not part of the SkyTeam alliance, must be made on one of their carriers.
4.13 There is no reduction in the required mileage for award tickets having special reduced fares (e.g. minors, students, elderly persons, etc.).
4.14 Award tickets are valid for twelve months from the date of issue.
4.15 Award tickets, once issued, are not reimbursable but can be substituted and/or changed, within the period of validity, on payment of 51.65 euros or a debit of 4,000 miles per ticket.
4.16 In any case, no change of itinerary and/or beneficiary of the ticket is possible when the ticket has been partially used.
4.17 Award tickets cannot be used on airline companies other than those indicated on the ticket itself.
4.18 Variations in the date and schedule related to the booking of an award ticket already issued, are free of charge and must be made by an Alitalia office. Variations cannot be made by travel agencies or other airlines.
4.19 Expired award tickets cannot be re-used, reimbursed or renewed and cannot be substituted or modified.
4.20 In case of loss or theft of an award ticket, there will be no type of reimbursement or re-issuing of the ticket. However, in the case or loss or theft of a partially used award ticket, that is with which at least one flight has been made, the Member may request the reissuing of the unused flight coupons (which have been lost or stolen) by presenting a photocopy of the loss/theft report at an Alitalia office, and by paying 50 euros (U.S.D. 100 in the USA). This procedure cannot be carried out in places where no Alitalia offices are present. In this case, the member will have to buy a new ticket and present a report of the loss/theft on his/her return in order to be reimbursed with the miles not used on the award ticket.
4.21 Regarding award tickets, the "General Transport Conditions" (see the extract from these conditions inside the airline ticket) are valid.
4.22 On some partner airline companies, award tickets may be subject to "black-out" periods. Alitalia declines any responsibility in case of unavailability or impossibility of booking.
4.23 The value of each award ticket is based on air fares valid at the moment of flying.
4.24 The award ticket can also be requested with a small mileage purchase, according to the rules and ways indicated on the page devoted to this matter on the Alitalia website.
4.25 Members can also request to be upgraded to a higher class than the one they booked for as part of their reward ticket on flights (individual legs) operated by companies in the Alitalia Group. The booking classes for which members can be upgraded and the miles necessary to be upgraded are indicated in the relative pages on the Alitalia website. A request to be upgraded must be made after the reward ticket has been issued, according to the specified procedures and time limits. The person to be upgraded may be the reward ticket holder or other person of his/her choosing. There is a limited number of reserved places on board. It is not possible for passengers on a waiting list to be upgraded. Miles used for upgrading cannot be refunded and it is not possible to change the itinerary and/or the date and/or the person to be upgraded once confirmation has been made. The miles earned after upgrading are the equivalent of those earned in economy class.
4.26 By using double the standard miles members receive a 'Plus' reward ticket, only in economy class and on flights operated by the Alitalia group, that offers better seat availability on board. Moreover, with the 'Plus' reward ticket, members are allowed 10 kg of excess baggage free of charge compared to their allowance for the club they belong to and the destination they have chosen. There is no penalty for changes to an itinerary and/or the recipient of a Plus ticket. There is a penalty however (51.65 euros or 4,000 miles) if the ticket is changed from 'Plus' to 'Standard'.
5 – Exclusive Clubs
5.1 Members who reach the qualifying mileage (earned from 1 January to 31 December of the same year) indicated in the MilleMiglia Guide, will be enrolled automatically and free of charge in "Club Ulisse" or "Club Freccia Alata".
5.2 Enrolment in Club Ulisse Club or Club Freccia Alata will be valid until 31 December of the following year.
5.3 The mileage necessary for access to the exclusive clubs represents a reference parameter that does not prejudice the possibility of using the miles in requesting awards.
5.4 Status as a Member of Club Ulisse or Club Freccia Alata will be recognised at the beginning of the month following the one when the mileage required to join the club was reached.
5.5 The crediting of the Exclusive Bonus depends on official recognition of membership with Club Ulisse or Club Freccia Alata by Alitalia’s IT system.
5.6 The Exclusive Bonus is calculated on miles actually flown on the basis of IATA TPM, or a minimum guaranteed mileage of 500 miles on domestic flights, and 1,200 miles on international flights.
5.7 Miles earned thanks to the Exclusive Bonus are not valid for joining or renewing membership in the exclusive clubs.
5.8 Flights with Alitalia and SkyTeam airlines, entitle crediting of the Exclusive Bonus.
