How to request an award ticket
Depending on the type of award ticket, you can use the following channels:
- Alitalia website: booking and ticketing of award tickets in Classica - Economy Class (both STANDARD and FLEX, on direct or indirect flights), in Classica Plus - Premium Economy Class and in Business Class (STANDARD only, direct flights only) or MultiClass flights, only on flights operated by the Alitalia group, access to Award Ticket Online
- MilleMiglia Customer Services: to book and issue all types of award tickets, including the one with mileage purchase.
Remember to communicate your MilleMiglia code, the number of your ID document (or that of a beneficiary) and your credit card number (for billing the airport taxes). On arrival at the airport, go straight to check-in to pick up your boarding pass and the receipt for the ticket.
With the Buy Miles service, you can buy the miles you need, purchase miles as a gift or transfer your miles to friends or family members.
General rules for Alitalia award tickets
- Rewards are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue and cannot be reimbursed.
- Bookings will be automatically cancelled if the award ticket is not issued within the time limit from the date the booking was made
- You can ask for an updrade from an Economy ticket to a Classica Plus one or to a Business/Magnifica one, or from a Classica Plus ticket to a Business/Magnifica one, at Alitalia Ticket Offices, the same day of departure2. The change of booking and miles deduction, equal to the cost difference of the two tickets, will be done at that same moment. We suggest to show up at the airport before the foreseen check-in time-limit deadline. Time-limits to request this service depend on your flight:
- 1,5 h in advance, for flights within Italy, with the exception of flights leaving from Rome Fiumicino (2 h in advance).
- 2 h in advance for international or intercontinental flights, with the exception of flights from/to North America (3 h in advance).
The ticketing offices in some of these airports may request a ticketing charge, that varies according to the departure and arrival points. - To changes to award tickets where penalties will apply, the amount will be of 5,000 miles or 55 euros. Penalty it’s not applicable in case of date or time change, and in case of changes to the beneficiary that require a switch3 from a Flex ticket to a Standard or, viceversa, from Standard to a Plus ticket.
- For each ticket, a maximum of two (2) involuntary transfers at intermediary airports between the point of departure and destination are allowed. Stop overs are not allowed.
