Venice Not far from Piazza San Marco is the picturesque Christmas market, with its characteristic stalls made out of wooden crates. Here you can buy the famous Murano glass, handmade scented soaps, candles and Carnival masks.
Rome The best-known Christmas market is in Piazza Navona, where you’ll find presents from the Befana, a kind old witch who traditionally brings children toys at Epiphany.

Krakow Crib makers have been displaying their work in the main Market Square since 1937, and every year there’s a competition organized by the History Museum.
Switzerland  Markets are a centuries-old tradition in Lugano, Chiasso, Mendrisio and Berne. And let’s not forget Innsbruck market, where you can sample local cakes and drink mulled wine in characteristic tankards.
Vienna The well-known “advent markets” take place in the City Hall Square. Amongst the 150 stalls you’ll find all kinds of things ranging from Christmas decorations to toys, craftwork and spices.

New York Most New Yorkers agree that the Sorrento Cheese Market in Little Italy is the most famous Christmas market in the whole of Manhattan. For three weeks every year, the stalls are overflowing with traditional Italian Christmas products, and not only…
Chicago A genuine German Christmas Market at the Daily Plaza has been going for the last nine years. Stallholders come here from all over the world, especially Europe, to sell their products.
Boston This traditional Christmas fair takes place in the heart of Quincy Market. Take your pick amongst craftwork and home-made food products, to the sound of Christmas carols sung by Boston folksong choirs.
