If you fly to Belo Horizonte in the caring hands of Alitalia, you'll arrive in one of Brazil's most dynamic cities. Although it has a history going back to the earlier 18th century, Belo Horizonte became a major new city as a result of urban design and planning from the late 19th century onward.
The beauty of the city center is further enriched by its ultra-modern architectural styles, much of which is visible in Pampulha Park. Your tickets to Belo Horizonte will also allow you to explore Belo Horizonte Zoo – a world-famous institution with a huge number of species from South America. The city is the capital of the “Minas Gerais” state, with a Brazil-wide reputation for fine food. Try the “Pão de queijo” (a form of cheese bread) – it's delicious. While you're there, make a point of visiting at least one of the many art galleries and museums – they're excellent and mostly located in the city center (Pampulha) district.
In the middle of April, travel to Belo Horizonte and you'll be able to take part in the “Comida di Buteco” festival. Fly to Belo Horizonte in early February if you'd like to experience the carnival and real samba dancing in the streets!
