Baggage assistance

DAMAGED BAGGAGE

If your luggage was damaged during the journey, go to the airport Lost & Found counter of the arrival city, to issue a Damage Report 

 

IF YOU RESIDE IN ISRAEL

After issuing the Damage Report the staff members on duty will do everything they can to help and guide you how to take care of the baggage.  

 

IF YOU LIVE IN A EU MEMBER STATE

Depending on the type and extent of damage to your baggage, Alitalia will give you a coupon towards the purchase of Alitalia tickets* or a new piece of baggage with the same characteristics as the one that was damaged chosen from a catalog of merchandise produced by a leading luggage manufacturer, which will be delivered to your home (at some airports, this new baggage will be given to you directly at the airport). 

If you live in Italy and want to explore other options than those we offer, send a message by filling in an online form within 7 days of having filed the Damage Report (D.P.R.) or within 21 days of having taken delivery of your bag if the damage was ascertained after a delayed delivery. 
Remember to attach:

  • A signed detailed letter
  • The D.P.R. issued by the Baggage Assistance office
  • The receipt of your flight ticket and/or boarding card
  • A declaration of the type and extent of damage written by a specialized store (only if the damage was ascertained after a delayed delivery)

IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

If you do not live in a European Union country, and depending on the type of damage to your baggage, Alitalia will give you a coupon valid towards the purchase of an Alitalia ticket.*  

If you want to explore other options than those we offer, send the following documentation to the Customer Relations Office nearest you within 7 days of having filed the P.I.R. or 21 days after having received your baggage if the damage was ascertained following a delayed delivery:

  • A signed detailed letter
  • The D.P.R. issued by the Baggage Assistance office
  • The receipt of your flight ticket and/or boarding card
  • A declaration of the type of damage written by a specialized store, only if the damage was ascertained after a delayed delivery.
