Covid-Tested Flights

 

Your safety and that of our staff have always been our priority. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have taken all the necessary measures in coordination with the Health Authorities to guarantee your flight experience is safer and even more comfortable.

 

Today, thanks to the advancement of the tools used to control the spread of Covid-19, it is possible to apply new preventative actions to aid in the return to daily life, with greater tranquillity.

 

Following the Lazio Region Ordinance No Z00058 of 11 September 2020, and the Lombardy Region Ordinance No 609 of 17 September 2020 in collaboration with Aeroporti di Roma and SEA Aeroporti di Milano, 2 out of the 7 Rome Fiumicino – Milan Linate and Milan Linate – Rome Fiumicino flights operating the route will only transport passengers who have tested negative for Covid-19. Either having performed the rapid antigen test before boarding or presented a medical certificate with a negative molecular (RT PCR) or antigenic test result carried out in the 72 hours before boarding.

 

 

DURATION OF THE TEST PERIOD

From 16 September to 31 October 2020 for flights departing from Rome Fiumicino

From 23 September to 6 November 2020 for flights departing from Milan Linate

AZ 2038 at 13:30 (active every day of the week)
AZ 2092 at 17:30 (active from Monday to Friday)

PASSENGERS ADMITTED ON BOARD COVID TESTED FLIGHTS

The two flights will only board passengers who:

  • Present a medical certificate with a negative molecular (RT-PCR) or antigen test result carried out within 72 hours before boarding​

Or

  • On the day of departure, undergo a free rapid antigen test at Rome Fiumicino Airport or Milan Linate Airport, and receive a negative result.

WHERE CAN I TAKE THE RAPID TEST IN THE AIRPORT AT ROME FIUMICINO AIRPORT

The test at Rome Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" International Airport, in collaboration with Aeroporti di Roma and the Lazio Region, will be carried out in the following areas:​

  • Drive-through set up in the Long Stay car park; in this case, you will need to arrive 72 to 2 hours before departure;

  • "Box Area Test Covid-19" Health Centre in Terminal T3, arrivals area, gate 4; in this case, you will need to arrive 1.5 hours before departure. ​

WHERE CAN I TAKE THE RAPID TEST AT MILAN LINATE AIRPORT

The test at Milan Linate “Enrico Forlanini” Airport, in collaboration with SEA Aeroporti di Milano and the Lombardy Region, will be carried out at the “Box Area Text Covid-19” Health Centre, located at the Departures Floor, Check-In Zone, Door 2, Area 1, 1.5 hours before departure.

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I NEED TO TAKE THE TEST

To carry out the test you will need to present the following

  • Flight ticket subject to covid testing
  • ID card/passport
  • Home isolation and health surveillance self-certification form (for flights departing from Rome download it here)

HOW IS THE TEST CARRIED OUT AT THE AIRPORT

Once in the dedicated Covid-19 test area, passengers will need to collect an identification number (without having
to queue), head to the box area, where a doctor, after crosschecking personal data with your id, will associate the identification number for the following communication of the report.

Once the swab has been taken, the result will be read and communicated by a doctor, directly with the passenger, within 30 minutes. While waiting, passengers cannot leave the area until they have received a result.

At Milan Linate, results will be delivered to Counter 103.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENT OF A NEGATIVE RESULT

You will receive a certificate confirming the negative result, which you can use at the check-in counter or, if you have a boarding pass, directly at the gate.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENT OF A POSITIVE RESULT

You will be subjected to a molecular test at the same site, you will not be able to board, and you will have to remain in isolation until the outcome of the second test and the appropriate measures are taken. 

ARE CERTAIN PASSENGERS EXEMPT FROM TAKING THE TEST?

Children up to 6 years of age are exempt from taking the rapid antigen test unless explicitly requested by a parent.

Furthermore, if you are unable to take the test for health reasons, documented by a medical certificate, you will need to request a free change to another flight, not subject to testing, by calling the dedicated number +39.06.65859458 at least 1 hour before departure.

MY CHILD/MINOR MUST TAKE A TESTED FLIGHT ALONE

Passengers between the ages of 14 and 17, who are able to fly without being accompanied by an adult, whether they are departing from or transiting in Rome Fiumicino, must present a home isolation and health surveillance self-certification form signed by a parent/guardian at the covid-19 box area.

I HAVE A TICKET FOR ONE A COVID-TESTED FLIGHT BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE TESTED

You can request a free change to another flight by contacting the dedicated number +39.06.65859458 at least 1 hour before departure.

I HAVE A RETURN TICKET BETWEEN ROME FIUMICINO AND MILAN LINATE. DO I NEED TO TAKE THE TEST TWICE?

If you have a return ticket between Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate and both flights are tested flights, you will only need to take one test, provided that the return flight is within 72 hours. If not, you will have to undergo the test again. You can still request a free change to another flight by calling the dedicated number +39.06.65859458 at least 1 hour before departure.

IS THE TEST FREE?

The test carried out at Rome Fiumicino Airport, Milan Linate Airport and all drive-throughs in the Lazio Region is completely free. All you need to do is present your flight ticket and ID card/passport.

WILL MY TICKET BE REIMBURSED IF I AM UNABLE TO BOARD MY FLIGHT?

Yes. If you are unable to board due to a positive Covid-19 rapid test result, you can choose to request a voucher of the same amount within fourteen days from the date of the withdrawal, valid for eighteen months from the date of issue, or a refund of your ticket. Please contact:

I HAVE A FLIGHT IN TRANSIT IN ROME FIUMICINO DIRECT TO MILAN LINATE. CAN I TAKE THE TEST AT THE AIRPORT?

If you have a flight in transit, you can take the rapid antigen test at Rome Fiumicino Airport only if your transit time is greater than 2 hours (domestic or Schengen destinations) or 3 hours (non-Schengen destinations). The test at the airport will be carried out at the “Box Area Test Covid-19” health centre located in Terminal T3, Arrivals Area, Door 4. The result will be communicated to you within 30 minutes.

If your transit time is not compatible with the above, you will need to:

  • Present a medical certificate with a negative molecular (RT-PCR) or antigen test result carried out within 72 hours before boarding

Or

  • Call the dedicated number +39.06.65859458 at least 1 hour before your flight to request a free change to another flight not subject to testing, or contact your travel agent if your ticket was purchased from a travel agency.
