Alitalia resumes flights to and from Istanbul following the re-opening of the Ataturk airport at 5:00 this morning (Istanbul local time). The decision has been taken by Alitalia having received assurances from the Turkish authorities regarding the restoration of adequate security standards at the airport. The first flight is scheduled for this evening, Wednesday 29 June, but instead of departing at 9.45 PM (Rome local time) it will depart at 11.45 PM. From tomorrow onwards, flights will operate normally.

Following the increase of the Istanbul Ataturk airport security measures, we recommend passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to departure.

Alitalia expresses its compassion to the families and friends of the victims. Alitalia wishes to point out that the safety of its customers and crew members is its main priority. Alitalia is therefore in constant contact with the Turkish authorities to ensure the higher standards of security.

In the event of any changes in the flight schedule, we will keep you informed as soon as possible. However, we invite passengers to check the status of the flight before going to the airport, noting that a dedicated free phone number is active (800650055) in order to give information about flights to and from Istanbul.
