1970. NEW LOGO AND NEW AIRCRAFT LIVERY.
Alitalia celebrates the arrival at Fiumicino of the first Boeing 747 with a new logo and a new livery. It is the start of a new era. On-board the 747 there is a cinema section, a bar and a lounge.

 

 

 

 

1970. UNIFORMS DESIGNED BY MILA SCHÖN.

The new uniforms include miniskirts and boots, bright colors like apple green and pink and fun accessories that were fashionable at the time like buckle moccasins, bow hats and scarves to be used as head covers or tied to the bags.

 

 

 

 

1970. DESIGN IN THE SKY
Style and design at the table: on Alitalia flights the cutlery is created by the designer architect Giò Ponti. And the love for art is revealed also in the cinema sections and through other entertainments available on board.

 

 

 

 

 

1972. THE MOST PRECIOUS FLIGHT TAKES OFF
For an international trade show in India Alitalia carries an extremely valuable cargo, jewelry of the value of 7 billion Italian Lire, equivalent to approximately 60 million of today’s euros. At that time, it was the flight with the largest cargo of precious items ever flown in the world.

 

 

 

1973. NEW ROUTES TO JAPAN.
To reach Japan Alitalia flights took a new Trans- Siberian route. It was the quickest way, allowing the flight duration to be cut by around seven hours.
