Light offers regulations

  • The fare applies to both one-way and round trip flights. The fare does not include hold baggage and allows only one piece of hand baggage weighing no more than 8 kg and measuring no more than 55 cm in height, 35 cm in width and 25 cm in depth, including handles, side pockets and wheels. In addition, one of the following accessories may be brought: briefcase, laptop computer or handbag. Compliance of hand baggage will be checked at the boarding gate.
  • Hand baggage that exceeds the permitted weight/size or baggage to be put in the hold is subject to a payment (per direction in case of round trip tickets) for the first bag, of a supplement as detailed below:
    • Domestic and international flights: € 25 for purchases made in the ’My Flights’ section, during check-in on the alitalia.com website, through the Customer Center and qualified travel agents; € 45 for purchases made at airport ticket desks or check-in desks. For additional baggage to put in the hold, the standard baggage allowance applies;
    • € 50 for intercontinental flights from Europe to US and Canada; US$ 60 from US and Canada to Europe. In case of travel in prosecution with codeshare flights operated by our partners Air France, KLM e Delta, the purchase of baggage is possible only at the airport (ticket desks and check-in desks) where travel begins. For additional baggage to put in the hold, the standard baggage allowance applies;
    • It is not possible to purchase baggage online at the reduced €25 fare for flights operated by other carriers or departing from the following airports: Amsterdam, Beirut, Belgrade, Copenhagen, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Frankfurt, Fuerte Ventura, Geneva, Gran Canaria, Havana, Heraklion, Ibiza, Krakow, Lampedusa, Menorca, Mykonos, Olbia, Oran, Palma de Mallorca, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Podgorica, Rhodi, Santorini, Split, Tenerife, Teheran, Tirana, Tunis, Zurich.
    • In case the baggage service is purchased at the airport the Airport Handled may request an additional charge, which may vary based on the departure airport;
    • The above prices may vary.

 

  • The Light fare is available on direct domestic flights and domestic flights with a stopover, on direct international flights and international flights with a stopover and, from 10 April 2018, also on intercontinental flights from/to US and Canada (both direct and with a stopover).
  • The Light fare is not available for flights to/from the following domestin destinations: Alghero-Milan Linate, Cagliari-Rome, Cagliari-Milan Linate, Lampedusa-Rome, Lampedusa-Milan Linate, Olbia-Pisa. Flights to/from the following international destinations are also excluded: Algiers, Belgrade, Cairo, Casablanca, Moscow, Oran, Podgorica, Prague, Saint Petersburg, Tunis.

 

  • For all domestic and international destinations, the fare applies only to Alitalia flights operated by Alitalia aircraft. On intercontinental flights, the fare applies to Alitalia flights operated by Alitalia and also to codeshare flights operated by our partners Air France, KLM and Delta Air Lines.

 

  • The Light fare does not cover refunds While changes to the booking and/or itinerary can be made with the following conditions:
    • Domestic flights: before departure with a €60 charge;
    • International flights: not allowed;
    • Flights to US and Canada: before and after departure with a €150 penalty.
    • Flights from US and Canada to Italy and Europe: not allowed

 

  • For round trip flights to domestic and international destinations the Light fare can be combined with other Alitalia fares. This is not allowed for intercontinental flights from/ to US and Canada.
  • The maximum permitted stay is 12 months.
  • There are no discounts for children (aged 2–10 years inclusive) on domestic, international and intercontinental flights.
  • Infants (under the age of 2 years) can occupy a seat provided that they travel in an approved child safety seat. In this case, 100% of the light fare is payable and no further discounts are applied.
  • Strollers are transported for free.

  • The light fare does not allow you to choose or change the seat that is automatically assigned; however, when traveling with children under 12 years, if the system does not automatically assign the child's seat next to at least one of the adults included in the booking code, at least one of the two parents may ask to change their seat, free of charge, so that they can travel next to their child. The request can be made directly at the check-in desk at the departure airport and is only allowed for one of the accompanying adults.
  • Seat change is allowed for a fee on the Alitalia website during online check-in and in the "My Flights" section if allowed by the system; in all remaining cases the seat will be assigned automatically. The fares for the seat change are:
    • Domestic and international flights: €5 per flight;
    • Flights to US and Canada: €20 per flight;
    • Flights from US and Canada: US$25 per flight.

 

  • The price can vary based on the moment of purchase of the seat choice/change service.
  • PROMOTION: the choice of preferred seat will be free if made before 30 September 2018, after ticket purchase, in the “My Flights” section or during online check-in.

  • With the Light fare you can check-in as follows:
    • online on alitalia.com
    • through the Alitalia App
    • at check-in kiosks if available at the airport
  • In all other cases check-in will be possible at the airport desks.

 

  • Members of the Freccia Alata Plus, Freccia Alata, Ulisse, Elite and Elite Plus Clubs will be entitled to:
    • One piece of hold baggage plus any sports equipment
    • Change their seat and/or choose an extra-comfort seat (only available to Freccia Alata Plus and Freccia Alata Members);
    • Check in at the airport, only in the lounge if permitted (only for Freccia Alata and Freccia Alata Plus) or at the SkyPriority priority desks (only for Ulisse, Freccia Alata Plus, Freccia Alata and Elite Plus). 
       
  • Corporate Cards holders (Millemiglia, Ulisse, Freccia Alata, Freccia Alata Plus and Elite Plus) purchasing a Light fare are entitled to:
    • One piece of hold baggage (for all Corporate cards except Millemiglia)
    • Sports equipment (only for Ulisse, Freccia Alata and Freccia Alata Plus)
    • Change their seat (only for Freccia Alata and Freccia Alata Plus) and/or choose an Extra Comfort Seat reservation during online check-in or self check-in (for all Corporate cards).
    • Check-in at the airport, only in the lounge if permitted (only for Freccia Alata and Freccia Alata Plus Corporate cards) or at the SkyPriority priority desks (for all Corporate cards)

 

  • It is possible to use miles with MilleMiglia Cash &Miles to request a discount on the total purchase price of a ticket with the Light fare.
  • It is not possible to use the e-coupon codes provided by the co-brand card Alitalia Intesa Sanpaolo or any other promotional code when buying Light fare tickets.
