AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS STRIKE 20 MARCH: INFORMATION FOR PASSENGERS

Alitalia was forced to cancel almost 40% of its flights, both domestic and international, due to industrial action made by some unions of the Italian air traffic controllers that have confirmed on 20 March a four hours strike (from 1 pm to 5 pm). On the same day, CUB Trasporti trade union (together with USB union only in Milan airports) have also confirmed a 24 hours air transport sector strike. Flights set to operate during the peak times between 7 am to 10 am and from 6 pm to 9 pm will operate as scheduled.

List of cancelled services is available at this link.

The airline has immediately taken special measures to minimise inconvenience to its customers, by rebooking passengers affected by cancellations on the first available flights, if possible on the same day.

Alitalia customers already holding tickets for travels on 20 March should contact Alitalia at the toll free number 800.65.00.55 (within Italy) or +39.06.65649 (from abroad), or the travel agent where they purchased the ticket, in order to check the status of their flights, before going to the airport.

Bigger aircraft will operate on several domestic and international routes in order to carry as more passengers as possible on 20 March. Additional staff will be on hand in the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to assist customers, and additional call centre staff will be on duty.
